🎨🔎 ART DETECTIVES: WHERE SCIENCE MEETS ART!
What can a painting hide? How do scientists determine the age of an ancient artefact? Can fingerprints help solve a crime? And why are some works of art worth millions while others never make it into a museum?
From 26–30 October, BeSmart turns into a laboratory for art, science and museum mysteries.
🧪 We’ll explore radiocarbon dating, discover how scientists determine the age of ancient objects, and carry out our own experiment.
🔍 We’ll learn the basics of fingerprint analysis and try the classic powder dusting method ourselves.
🖼 We’ll look into some of the world’s most famous museum thefts and then investigate a mystery of our own. We’ll also find out how museums work behind the scenes, who takes care of their collections, and how an object becomes a museum exhibit.
🔨 We’ll hold our own art auction and explore how artworks are valued — and why some sell for a fortune.
To finish the week, every participant will create their own “Museum of Me”, developing a concept and choosing what deserves a place in their personal collection.
And one part of the programme is still a secret… 👀 We’re planning a visit to a very unusual museum.
